Hyderabad: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant turned the tide in the high-stakes IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with a moment of pure wicket-keeping genius. In what is already being hailed as the “catch of the tournament,” Pant dismissed SRH’s high-priced acquisition, Liam Livingstone, with a sensational one-handed grab.
The Moment that Stunned Hyderabad
The dismissal occurred during the 8th over of the SRH innings, delivered by leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi. Livingstone, who was struggling to find his rhythm at the crease, attempted a lap scoop to use the bowler’s pace.
However, the ball caught the toe-end of the bat, deflected off his shoulder, and ballooned behind the stumps. Pant, showing incredible reflexes, initially moved in the wrong direction before making a lightning-fast adjustment. He dove full-stretch to his left to pluck the ball out of thin air with one hand, leaving the stadium and the commentators in disbelief.
A Costly Outing for Livingstone
The dismissal ended a disappointing knock for the England international. Liam Livingstone, for whom SRH splurged a massive Rs 13 crore at the IPL 2026 mini-auction, departed after a labored 14 runs off 20 balls.
His exit left SRH in deep trouble at 26/4, further justifying the “viral” status of the catch as it effectively dismantled the SRH middle-order before the later recovery by Klaasen and Reddy.
